Images no longer display in your email? This is probably because Microsoft changed the default security settings in its Outlook products to prevent images from being downloaded and displayed automatically.
The official reason? Bad things can happen if you receive HTML email containing pictures with harmful code. HTML email is ‘pretty’ email – not the plain text black-on-white type. Microsoft considers plain text email safe.
The bad news is that your incoming email looks ugly, with empty spaces where pictures should be.
Fortunately, this can be changed. The simplest is to right click on the missing picture, or click on the picture and press Alt+P (for Download Picture). The picture should show. Or, press Alt+C (for Change automatic download settings).
Depending on the version of Outlook you are using, the setting may be under Tools then Security:
Uncheck “Do not automatically download pictures or other content ….”
Other version may require access to the new Trust Centre and then Automatic Download:
Uncheck “Do not automatically download pictures or other content ….”
You are advised to use caution when changing global settings such as these. Downloading all images may make your email pretty, but it may also slow down your connection.
